BIOGRAPHY

 

At The “ VVdM Gallery ” we treasure the amusing works of Mr Poncelet. He calls his dog portraits “Aristochiens” and his paintings are eagerly bought by the aristocracy in Europe and even royalty.
Born in Brussels in 1946, Mr Poncelet started as an art restorer who one day had the great idea of altering ancestral portraits. That way he expressed something new and quite whimsical about people, dogs, and the kinship between them.

The “Aristochiens” are a combination of his two most favourite things in the world-ancestral portraits, which he collects, and dogs, with which he pays them real homage!
Mr.Poncelet has the knack of matching the right breed and canine expression with the perfect surrogate body !!
